1979-80 Series saw England visiting India for Jubilee celebrations and winning the only test by 10 wickets.
England was the number one team and India did well to lose only by 10 wickets. Ian Botham continued his allround success against India grabbing 13 wickets and scoring a century and winning the match almost single-handedly.
India was bowled out in both innings at low score. Although England could not cross 300-run mark in their first innings, they won by 10-wickets.
None of the batsmen from both team crossed 50-run, except Botham who hit a century. Gooch (49), Boycott and Taylor (43 each) were other good scorers. For India Gavaskar (49), Kapil (45*) and Kirmani (40*) were best scorers.
Botham grabbed 13 wickets in the match with 6/58 & 7/48 performances. For India, Ghavri grabbed 5 wickets. Kapil took 3 wickets. Binny and Doshi got a wicket each. For England J Lever grabbed 4 wickets and Stevenson took remaining 2 wickets.
