When Chennai Super Kings take on Pune Warriors at home in the reverse match between both teams, they must win to prove that the defeat in first game was just an upset, and Pune Warriors are still not so strong contender in current edition. Warriors on the other hand must be feeling confident with their batsmen making merry in the lost game against RCB. Their bowlers have already proven their effectiveness and on slow Chennai pitch, they may again be unstoppable.
Despite scoring 155 runs, CSK lost the last game against Warriors at Pune. Their bowlers could just show frustration and failed to take more than a wicket as Warriors gifted another two with run outs and won by 7 wickets. Before that in 2011 CSK won both the matches comfortably.
Head-to-Head CSK 2-1 PWI
CSK won by 25 runs
CSK won by 8 wickets
- Warriors def CSK by 7 wickets
Who Will Win Today
CSK bowlers must be ready to make amends and would be eyeing to run over the underdogs. Ashwin despite giving 19 runs could not grab a wicket. His frustration of not being successful against the underdogs, whom his team defeated twice in 2011, probably led to his direct outburst against Pune Warriors batsman, Steven Smith when after his failed attemt to Mankad, he got into argument with Steven Smith. At his home, he will like to complete the argument after grabbing wickets. Chennai fans would be praying for that, as his performance is the key to their bowling.
Warriors on the other hand have already defeated two big teams – MI and CSK, and were almost close to defeating RCB. In the first game against CSK they looked nervous with victory in sight, now they must be confident enough to hit the nail hard to fix the two-time champions at their den.
Except non-inclusion of Tamim Iqbal, there is not much to question Ganguly. He is yet to give chance to last year’s successful bowler Thomas and others. Samuels cannot be rested at Chennai, as the track may support his kind of bowling. But, including Tamim may help Warriors. They should ensure that the victory momentum does not stop.
Warriors should be able to win again.
