Warriors were expected to win the game and they had high score on board to confirm why they were the better side. But while they may have prepared for usual better batsmen of Kings XI, Mandeep Singh and David Miller stepped in to devastate their bowling and take their side to a historical 7 wickets win. Warriors have now lost both matches of 2013 edition against Kings XI also, after losing both matches to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Still undecided about the core playing XI, Warriors had third captain in 7 matches as Aaron Finch was preferred to replace Mathews, overlooking Steven Smith. Finch succeeded with bat becoming the first debutant IPL Captain to score a half-century. His 42-ball 64 runs (8 boundaries, 2 sixes) were first supported by Uthappa (33-ball 37 runs with 4 boundaries as they shared third 50+ opening wicket partnership adding 83 runs in 10.3 ov. Yuvraj gave sign of good form adding 24-ball 34 runs (2 boundaries, 3 sixes) adding 41 for 2nd wicket but Finch was sent back by Gony, and on the first ball of 18th over Azhar Mahmood had Yuvraj caught with score reading 142/3. Another 20 runs was general expectation and it appeared like going the way of the first match where MI set a target of 161 runs. But Luke Wright playing his first game of the season played the most devastating cameo of the season. In 10 balls he scored 34 runs with 6 boundaries and a six to take Warriors to 180 runs. Steven Smith (9-ball 6 runs), and Nayar (2 runs on 2 balls) set the total to 185/4, the second highest IPL score of Warriors.
For Kings XI Praveen Kumar did bowl a maiden, taking his 2013 maiden tally to 3, but everyone was taken to task. Praveen had 36/0, Azhar 42/2, Awana 38/1, Gony 32/1 and Chawla 33/0.
Kings XI Inning
With 186 to chase the home crowd started praying for a miracle. But Captain Gilchrist (4 runs), who had dropped Finch in the 2nd over of the game, failed with the bat again on a beauty by B Kumar. Ajantha Mendis playing his first game had Azhar Mahmood leg before on a duck in 2nd over. Score read 5/2 in 1.1 over. Mandeep Singh, the rookie opner was joined by Manan Vohra, the MOM of last win against Warriors. Both raced the pace and took Kings XI to 58/3 in 6.4 overs when Vohra (13-ball 22 with 3 boundaries was bowled by Yuvraj. Everyone expected David Hussey, star of Kings XI batting, to join Mandeep, but David Miller was promoted. And rest is history as both the youngsters added unbeaten 128 runs to seal a 7-wicket victory. MOM Miller (41-ball 80 runs with 5 sixes and 5 boundaries) scored 16 runs with two sixes in the last over bowled by Luke Wright, who ended up giving 35 runs in his 2.5 overs as against 34 runs scored on 10 balls.
Warriors bowler also had nothing impressive to show. B Kumar (31/1), Yuvraj (15/1 in 2 overs) were the best bowlers. Mendis (38/1), Dinda (37/0), Rahul Sharma (28/0 in 3 overs) and Wright (35/0 in 2.5 overs) were taken to task.
