Last year Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders were way ahead of other teams in the group stage. This year alongwith Warriors they belong to the bottom three teams that are almost out of the tournament just after playing 9 matches each. Yet it is difficult to write off teams that won 10 and more matches in the last edition. The hope is still there. But only one can win today when they lock heads at the new home of DD, Raipur. Daredevils look set to get the revenge.
Both have met 11 times in the last five editions. They have seen one match abandoned between them whereas in remaining matches KKR leads 6-4.

- DD has reached semifinal in 2008, 2009 and 2012. 2011 saw them finishing at the bottom among the 10 teams. In 2008 and 2010 they won 7 and lost 7 matches, but in 2008 they have one abandoned match also. In 2009 they won 9 and lost only 7. In 2011, they could win only 4 and lost 9, drawing 1. In 2012 DD topped the group with 11 wins, and lost only their 6th match of the tournament in the Qualifier to be knocked out.
KKR, finally reached the knockout, in 2011. In 2008 they had 6 Win, 7 Losses, 1 No Result against DD. In 2009 they Won 3, Lost 10 and again had 1 No Result. In 2010 they had the best performance with 7 Wins and 7 Losses. Finishing fourth in 2011, KKR won 8, lost 7 including the Eliminator level loss. In 2012 they became the champion and in the process registered 12 wins, losing 5.
- Before this match DD has won 41 and lost 41, with three matches ending in no result. KKRs has 39 Wins, 42 Losses and 3 No Result.
On paper KKR has a better batting unit, but it is not succeeding. For a non-spin friendly pitch DD has one of the bowling unit. Yet overall they are lacking the team bonding, while even in KKR it is not a pleasant situation. Gambhir’s frustration is coming out openly as outburst on field against his players.
KKRs Player performance in 2013
DDs Player performance in 2013
There is nothing strong about both the teams in the current season. Captaincy has been questionable. Players either batsmen or bowlers are not consistent, except Eoin Morgan, and upto some extent Gambhir of KKR. For Delhi none of the batsmen have stood up and they look confused as a team. Amidst their experiment with the teams the last match saw them finally winning their second match of the current edition.
Hoping that they maintain the same team, they certainly have edge over KKR.
