The openers added 75 runs by 17th over when Dhawan (30) was caught napping by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur on the bowling of Shakib. Kohli (3) continued his mixed form as he was caught behind on the bowling of Rubel Hossain as he tried a careless shot on almost a wide ball. Rahane (19) struggled but survived till 28th over when he was caught by Shakib on the bowling of Taskin.
India at 115/3 in 28 overs were in a spot of bother. But the World Cup star Raina arrived and with his 57-ball 65 runs India not only improved its run rate but by the time he went in 44th over India were well on course to 300 runs. He added 122 runs with Rohit Sharma (126-ball 137) who scored his 7th ODI century, and second one at MCG becoming only the third non-Australian to record two or more centuries at MCG.
Rohit started atttacking after completing his century adding 36 for 6th wicket with Dhoni, who could score only 6 runs and acted as anchor to Jadeja (10-ball 23) also and was out in the 49th over as score read 296/6. In the last over, Jadeja and Ashwin (3) took 6 singles and India reached 302/6.
For Bangladesh, the biggest failure was Mashrafe Mortaza, their hero of all the three ODI wins vs India. He had 1/69 in 10 overs. Taskin (3/69) was the most successful, while Nasir Hossain (0/35 in 9) was most economic. Rubel (1/56) and Shakib (1/58) played a major role in drying up the runs till 25th over.
Bangladesh Chase 303 runs
Bangladeshi chased 303 runs but the first blow was their 2012 win hero Tamim Iqbal. He added run a ball 25 runs. But Umesh yadav got him caught by Dhoni in 7th over as the score read 33/1. Mortaza (1), Rube Hossain (0) and Taskin (unbeaten 0) could not help the cause and Indian bowlers bundled them out by 45 overs on 193.
Umesh Yadav was the pick of bowlers with 4/31 in 9 overs. Shami returned the figure of 2/37 in 8 overs. Mohit Sharma (1/36 in 7 overs), Raina (0/15 in 3) also did not let Bangladeshi batsmen relax. Ashwin was the most economic with 0/30 in 10 overs with a maiden.
