Australia and Pakistan clashed first time in ODI in 1975 World Cup, which the strong Australians duly won. But since then Pakistan has been the bitter nemesis of the World Champions being the only team with an equal record of 4 wins each. West Indies won 5 against Australia, but 4 of it were recorded in 1975 and 1983. After that it is 4-1 for Australia, who have ruled every other nation but Pakistan in World Cup. In the last 3 clashes at World Cup, Pakistan leads Aussies 3-1.

The only relief for Australia being that they have won all the three knockout matches against Pakistan in World Cup including the 1999 World Cup Final. Conclusion
Considering the past record of Pakistani teams in Australia, and the current upsurge in World Cup 2015, it appears that match wil run very close and Pakistanis do have a fair chance. Australia’s big hopes of winning the quarterfinals depends on the past record of World Cup where they have won all the three knockout games they played against Pakistan.
