Rio Olympics: Badminton Schedule, Players and Results for India

India sent its biggest Badminton team ever for an Olympics at Rio 2016. The 7 member team participated in 4 events. Overall 172 players participated in the Badminton event scheduled from 11-20 August at Riocentro – Pavilion 4. While Sindhu won historic Silver by any woman of India, Srikanth reached Quarterfinals. Injury stopped Saina, while Men’s Doubles team could win at least one game.

Saina is ranked 5th while Srikanth has been 9th for the Olympics 2016. In 2012 Olympics, Saina became the first Indian shuttler to win a medal as she won Bronze. P Kashyap reacdhed Quarterfinals while Women’s doubles pair of Jwala Gutta / Ashwini Ponnappa and Mixed Doubles pair of Jwala Gutta / Valiyaveetil Diju could not cross the Group Stage.
