FIH Hockey Series 2019 Finals: Indian Women Win to Match Men’s Team Title Win

Indian Women matched achievement of Men’s Indian team as they won the FIH Hockey Series 2019 at Hiroshima defeating the hosts, Japan 3-1 in the final. Captain Rani Rampal scored the first goal while Gurjit Kaur scored other two goals.

Rani was adjudged the best player of the tournament while Gurjit emerged the top-scorer with 11 goals.
The world number nine Indian team had already qualified for the FIH Olympic Qualifiers 2019 in October.
At pool, Indian women remained unbeaten scoring 20 goals and conceding just one.
Def Uruguay 4-1 (1 goal each Rani, Gurjit, Jyoti, Lalremsiami)
Def Poland 5-0 (2 goals Gurjit, 1 each Navneet Kaur, Jyoti and Katariya)
Def Fiji 11-0 (3 Gurjit, 2 Monika, 1 each Lalremsiami, Rani, Katariya, Minz, Navneet Kaur)

In Semifinals, they defeated Chile 4-2 with 2 goals by Gurjit, 1 each by Navneet Kaur and Rani.
