1954 Asian Games: Indians finish 5th With 13 Medals

Indians finished 5th at Manila Asian Games winning only 13 medals. They won medals only in Athletics and Wrestling. In Athletics they won 5 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze while in Wrestling they won 2 Silver and a Bronze. In Women’s event, Indians won first Gold medal as India participated only in 4 Sports. With 14 Medals, Indians finished second behind Japan. They won 5 Gold, 3 Silver and 6 Bronze medals.

KP Thakkar won the only Bronze for India at Diving where Japan and Israel were other two participating nations.

Indians failed to cross the Group Stage losing to Indonesia. They won against Japan.

5-member squad of India won a Silver and a Bronze to finish 5th among 6 participating nations.
