2002 ICC KnockOut Trophy

Sri Lanka hosted the tournament during its monsoon season and the Champions Trophy saw the final washed out for two days where in despite 110 overs being bowled, India was unable to complete a result-oriented innings and with Sri Lanka emerged the joint winner of the tournament.

For the first time the knockout format was mixed with Group matches wherein 12 teams (Netherlands and Kenya alongwith 10 test playing nations) were divided into 4 categories and the leader of the group proceeded to play the semifinals.
