2018 Women’s World Boxing Championship: Indian Performance

As New Delhi hosted Women’s World Boxing Championship for the second time after 2006, 8 Indian women have entered the quarterfinals of the events scheduled from Nov 15-24 at Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex. Pinki, Simranjeet, Saweety and 2016 World Championships Silver medal winner Sonia Lather will play the quarterfinals on Monday, Nov 20, while Mary Kom, Manisha, Lovlina and Bhagyabati will play later. 2006 Gold medal winner Sarita Devi was the only Indian to be knocked out.

Women’s World Boxing Championships: Indians are Overall Third Best

While Mary Kom is targetting World Record 6th Gold medal at World Championships after 2010, Indians would like to better their best performance of 3 Gold medals in 2006, when they last hosted the event.
