After not winning any medal in 1986 CWG, Indians doubled their previous best of 1982 Commonwealth Games at 1990 Commonwealth Games. 12 Gold medals from Weightlifting helped India reach 32 medals where Shooting added a Gold too. India ranked 5th with 13 Gold, 8 Silver, 11 Bronze medals. For the first time, Wrestling did not contribute to the medal tally. Judo became the new entrant in India’s medal list.
