Archer World Cup Stage 4: Deepika Kumari reached round of 32

Deepika Kumari reached round of 32 in the Women’s recurve individual at Poland. Other Indian women participants Dola Banerjee, Laishram Bombayla Devi and Rimil Buriuly lost. Indian Men progressed in recurve individual and Compound section.

Archery World Cup 2013: Indian performance

Deepika defeated American Michelle Gilbert 6-5 in tie-braker, and now will meet Carina Christiansen of Denmark.

In the recurve men individual, Tarundeep Rai, Atanu Das and rookie Priyank advanced into the second round.
Indian team qualified 10th with 2092 points in the compound section, as Abhishek Verma (699), Sandeep Kumar (698) and Rajat Chouhan (695) finished 25th, 32nd, 36th, respectively.

In the compound women section, Indians were 11th with a total score of 2026 as Lily Chanu Paonam (679), Jyothi Surekha Vennam (676) were 23rd, 30th and 38th, respectively.

Stage 4 is the last chance for archers to qualify for the World Cup Finals of 2013 to be held in Paris. In 2013, Deepika’s only success in Individual Recurve is finishing second at Stage 1 in Shanghai, and currently she is placed 4th after first three stage.
