
Indian boxers has to fight under the banner of AIBA as Indian boxing association is no more recognized due to irregularities. Still, that did not prevent the Indian boxers from giving one of their best shows, with slots for World Boxing Championship at stake. Participating in all the 10 events, four boxers reached the semifinal, 4 lost in quarterfinals, while 2 lost in the preliminary round. Shiva Thapa, Laishram Devendro Singh, Vikas Krishan Yadav and Satish Kumar have qualified for the semifinals that start on September 4. After Uzbeks and Kazakhs, Indian team had one of the highest number of semifinalists. Finally, only Vikas could reach the final and he settled for Silver against his Uzbek opponent.

Semifinalists
- Satish Kumar defeated Tajikistan’s Siyovush Zukhurov at the +91 kg weight class.
Vikas Krishan Yadav defeated Vietnam’s Truong Dinh Hoang in the 75 kg weight class.
Laishram Devendro Singh defeated Indonesia’s Cornelis Kwangu Langu in the 49 kg weight class.
Shiva Thapa def Kyrgyzstan’s Omurbek Malabekov before the final bell in Bantamweight class (56 kg).
Shiva Thapa is the defending champion of the event too. He will play semifinal against Uzbekistan’s Murodjon Akhmadaliyev. Shiva Thapa defeated Jordan’s Mohammad Al-Wadi in pre-QF.
Satish Kumar was quarter-finalist in the last edition of the AIBA World Boxing Championships. The referee stopped their bout in the final round when Satish Kumar had lethal combinations.
Laishram Devendro Singh will face Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov in semifinals.
Quarter-finalists
- Uzbekistan’s Shakhobiddin Zoirov defeated AIBA Team’s Madan Lal at the 52 kg weight class. Madan Lal has defeated Iraq’s Murtadha Al-Sudani in pre-QF.
Korean Kim Hyeong Kyu who defeated AIBA Team’s Kuldeep Singh in a tight bout at the 81 kg weight class. Kuldeep Singh who moved up a weight class since the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships had defeated China’s Zhang Aolin in the pre-QF.
Uzbekistan’s Rustam Tulaganov defeated AIBA Team’s Manpreet Singh in the 91 kg weight class. Manpreet has defeated Sri Lanka’s Nuvan Sugeewa Sampath in pre-QF.
Manoj Kumar lost to Uzbekistan’s London 2012 Olympic Games quarter-finalist Fazliddin Gaibnazarov. Manoj has defeated Nepal’s Deepak Shrestha in pre-QF.
Loss in Preliminary Rounds
- 69 kg: Japan’s Yasuhiro Suzuki defeated AIBA Team’s Mandeep Jangra in the 69 kg weight class in the pre-QF.
60 kg: 19-year-old Manish Kaushik lost in the preliminary round against Thailand’s Pachanya Longchin.
