India needed to win the match to dream their third consecutive final and title. Australia has already reached the final after defeating Great Britain 2-1 in the first match of the day.

The first goal of the match scored by Ravi Paul through a direct hit can be considered as the best goal of the tournament. Within 4 minutes Kiwis levelled through direct hit of Nicholas Wilson.
India took the lead again in 26th minute when Chandi succeeded in placing the ball in the goal. But within 6 minutes Blair Hilton equalised.

After half-time, both team played aggressive game. India drew the first blood again, in the 40th minute of the game through a beautiful scoop by Chandi, but Andrew Hayward equalized again for New Zealand through the second consecutive penalty corner in 44th minute. 6 goals scored, still none in lead. What a thriller it is turning to be. Matt took New Zealand to lead in 52nd minute with another successful penalty corner conversion. From 3-3 within few minutes score turned to 7-3 in New Zealand’s favor. Indian defence cracked under pressure.
