Bitburger Open 2016: Another Rare Feat as Two Indians Reach Men’s Singles Semifinals

Sourabh Varma and Sameer Verma have added another historic feat to Indian Badminton’s rise as both reached the semifinals of Bitburger Open 2016 at Germany. It is very rare that two Indians reach the semifinals of same event in an International tournament. After Saina Nehwal, Srikanth Kidambi and PV Sindhu took Indian Badminton to World stage, new feats are achieved by Indian Shuttlers. Whether it is Mixed Doubles team or Men’s Doubles winning championships or many other Men’s and Women’s shuttler winning different tournaments. Tomorrow, they play the semifinal and if they manage to create further upsets, an International tournament will see two Indians in final of same event for the first time. Will India win 4th title at Bitburger?

At Bitburger Open, Indians have won three titles.

    Chetan Anand won Men’s Singles Title in 2008.
    Jwala Gutta and Diji Valiyaveetil won Mixed Doubles title in 2008.
    Rupesh Kumar and Sanave Thomas won Men’s Double title in 2009.
