CL Twenty20 2010 Review: Day 2 had one-sided matches

Port elizabeth, South Africa: After the inaugural match of the first day, where the superstar-filled Mumbai Indians lost to the underdogs Lions in Group B match, Day 2 had 2 matches of Group A. Both the matches were won easily.

Memorable Facts of The Day
1. Two first ball dismissals: Hayden (CSK) as first wicket and McClenaghan (CD) as 10th wicket.
2. First Maiden of the tournament bowled by Balaji (CSK)
3. First team to score less than 100 runs: CD were all-out for 95 runs.
4. First bowler to receive MOM: J Theron (Warriors)

Warriors Vs Wayamba Summary
The match between strong South African team and the weakest proclaimed team of the tournament Wayamba from Sri Lanka was a one-sided affair. Wayamba did manage to cross 150 runs despite losing star batsman Mahela in the first over, but their bowlers could not match the professional acumen of Warriors. The different approach was apparant in the fact that while Wayamba batsmen hit 9 sixes, Warriors hit just 2 sixes, yet drafted an easy chase to emerge winner.

Chennai Super Kings Vs Central Districts Summary
The match between the IPL champions and CDs ended one-sided, despite promising to be a close match in the beginning, when CSK was struggling. Yet, Anirudha changed the game with his quick-fire 42 runs under pressure, while Badrinath remained glued to the wicket to score 52 runs which ultimately won him the MOM too. The CSK bowlers, filled with international players of the likes of Muralitharan, Bollinger, Balaji and Morkel, in tandem with IPL hero Ashwin wreck havoc and CD could not even reach 100.

Question of the Day: Why did Dhoni Play?
Despite losing 4 wickets, Dhoni did not come to bat. Later, he explained the decision citing he was having flu. The question arises, why did he play then? He is in the team mainly for his batting. When he could not bat, his replacement could have batted. Strangely, while fielding, Dhoni excelled behind the wicket with 3 dismissals.

Irony Again for Bowlers
Yesterday, on batsmen day, a bowler was overlooked for MOM. Today on Bowler’s day, Balaji of CSK failed to get MOM, despite CSK winning the match due to bowlers. The MOM went to a CSK batsman (Badrinath) who hit a half century. The bowler, Theron (Warriors) got MOM in other match probably because none of his teammates could hit a 50.

Best Bowler of The Day
Balaji with 3 wickets, giving just 20 runs in his 4 overs was the best bowler of the day. He also bowled the first (and so far only) maiden over of the tournament.

Best Batsman of the day
Anirudh of CSK scored a quick 42 runs in just 29 balls with 5 fours and a six. He came to the wicket when CSK was in trouble with score reading 40/3 after 8th over. By the time he departed, the score read 113 in 16.2 overs and CSK capitalized to cross 150 due to his effort.

Most Sixes
3 sixes: Perera and Kulatunga hit 3 sixes each for Wayamba in the losing cause against Warriors.
