Indian Women’s Basketball Team won FIBA Asia Cup 2017 Division B title. They defeated Kazakhastan in a thriller at home in Bengaluru to qualify into Division A tournament for 2019 edition. In a fairy-tale finish, Indian women won the finals 75-73.

At half-time Kazakhastan was leading 20-15. During the third period Indians were trailing by 14 points. Even with 1:36 minutes remaining they trailed 71-66. But with 30 seconds left India got into lead 73-31 and from there they won the Division B championship. For Indians, Jeena Skaria with 20 points and young forward Shireen Limaye with 17 points were the top scorers.

While Jeena was the top performer of tournament with 14.2 as efficienty rate per game, Anitha Pauldurai scored 16.4 points per game. With 8.2 per game Rebounds Shiren Limaye was the best while Barkha Sonkar had the best 4.2 Assists per game.

BFI announced Rs 15 lakh cash prize for the team that remained undefeated during the tournament. Indian women were relegated in previous championship.
