French Open 1st Round: HS Prannoy Shocks Lin Dan, 5 Indians in 2nd Round

HS Prannoy scripted the biggest upset of the day when he knocked out the great Lin Dan, 3rd seed, in the first round after a tough fight despite losing first set. He became only the 2nd Indian to beat the Great Lin Dan. 2 of the 8 Indians lost. Sindhu was not the favorite and lost to defending champ Shixian Wang, while last year’s quarterfinalists Saina and Kashyap won, 4th seed Srikanth lost his 4th consecutive match of this year to Houwei. Ajay Jayaram and Women’s Doubles team of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa also reached 2nd round. Check complete results of first round for Indians. Saina has a big day tomorrow as the race to win 6th title by Indians move to another round.
