Hong Kong Open 2016: Saina vs Sindhu Clash Just a Match Away, Enter QF with Jayaram and Sameer

A much-awaited clash between Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu is just a match away. Both today won their Round 2 matches and are set to clash in semifinal if they win their respective quarterfinals tomorrow at Hong Kong Open 2016. Today, Saina, Sindhu, Sameer Verma and Ajay Jayawam moved to quarterfinals, while Super Series tournament winner from India, HS Prannoy lost despite tough fight.

Returning from injury, Saina had to spend a long time again at court playing till third set. But, as a major boost to her confidence, she emerged winner. Even in the 1st round, she had a long game.

Sindhu, on the other hand, after winning China Open last week, registered second easy win in Hong Kong Open 2016 and entered quarterinfals.

    HS Prannoy lost 15-21 21-11 21-15 to Wei Fung (Malaysia) in 58 minutes

In the Quarterfinals on Friday:

    Saina will play Cheung of Hong Kong whom she leads 1-0 in career meet after winning in BWF World Championships 2015.
    Sindhu will Liang of Singapore whom she leads 2-0 in career meet after winning in Asia Team Championships 2016 and Commonwealth Games 2014.
    Sameer Verma will play Wei Feng Chong of Malaysia whom he leads 1-0 in career meet after winning in Malaysia Grand Prix Gold 2013.
    Ajay Jayaram will play NG Ka Long Angus of Hong Kong whom he trails 0-2 in career meet after losing in All England Open 2016 and Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2016.
