Gavaskar breached the 700-mark again and with 4 centuries reached 702 in 9 innings. Viswanath (497), Vengasarkar (402), Kapil (329), Chetan Chauhan (331) and Anshuman Gaekwad (293) were other prominent scorers.
Kallicharan (538) led the team from front with a century and 3 half-centuries. Bacchus (472) scored a double century and missed another century by 4 runs. Gomes (405), Murray (261) and opener Williams (212) were also among the runs.
Indians took 84 wickets, highest against West Indies in a series. Ghavri (27 wickets) emerged as the new Indian fast bowling sensation. He with Kapil Dev (17) shared 44 wickets, breaking the strangehold of Indian spin quadrat of Venkatraghavan, Chandrasekhar, Bedi and Prasanna who took 38 wickets together.
Clarke (21) and Philip (19) led the inexperienced bowling unit to take 64 Indian wickets.
