Ind Vs WI 1982/83 Test Series: WI Rock India again

1982/83 Series saw India getting Kapil Dev as new captain, still the fate was no different as WI won the series. The series belonged to Mohinder Amarnath, who showed how to face the feared pace battery by hitting sixes and scoring high throughout the series despite being hit on face.

The dangerous opening pair of Greenidge and Haynes first time joined hands against India. The WI pace-battery of Roberts, Marshall, Holding and Garner destroyed the Indians. WI bowlers took 57 wickets.
With Gavaskar in sublime form, after captaincy being snatched, Mohinder Amarnath was the leading Indian scorer.

Batsmen
Amarnath (598) led the Indian batting with 2 centuries and 4 half-centuries, one of which ended in 90s. Vengasarkar (279), Kapil Dev (254), Yashpal Sharma (242), Gavaskar (240), Shastri (236) and Gaekwad (200) were among the runs, but team seldom performed together.
Lloyd with 281 was the highest scorer, Richards (280), and Greenidge (237) followed him.

Bowlers
The quadrat of pace-battery of Roberts (22), Marshall (15), Holding (11) and Garner (7) destroyed the Indians. WI bowlers took 57 wickets.
With just Venkataraghavan remaining in team from the famous spin-quadrat, India took only 50 wickets as the captain Kapil led with 17 wickets. Spinners Shastri and Venkat took 10 wickets each.

Allrounder Kapil Dev with 254 runs, including a century, and 17 wickets was the best allrounder.

Captains
Kapil Dev scored 254 runs and took 17 wickets. Lloyd with 281 runs was their highest scorer.

Wicketkeeper
Dujoin scored 149 runs in 5 innings. Kirmani continued to fail with bat for third consecutive series, scoring only 93 runs in 7 innings.
