Ind Vs WI 1983-84 Test Series: Marshall & Holding Rip Champion India

After 1983 World Cup defeat West Indies visited new Champion India in Away Series of 6 Test matches. Playing to restore pride lost by World Cup defeat, the sharks of Test Cricket duly gulped Indians 3-0, despite heroic performance from Gavaskar, captain Kapil Dev and Vengasarkar.

Batsmen
Gavaskar with 503 runs was again the key Indian batsman. Vengasarkar (425), Shastri (336), Kirmani (235) and Binny (218) were other key batsman for India.
Lloyd with 497 runs was the highest run scorer. Greenidge (411), Dujon (367), Richards (306) and Gomes (213) were other prominent scorers.

Bowlers
Marshall with 33 wickets created new record for highest wicket in INd-WI series. Holding (30), Daniel and Winston Davis (14 each) helped WI bowlers grab 99 wickets (new record in series).
Kapil Dev with 29 wickets emerged as the best bowler. Indian bowlers grabbed 72 wickets.

Captain
Lloyd scored 2nd highest total of the series with 2 centuries. Kapil Dev took highest 29 wickets and scored 184 runs with a half-century.

Wicketkeeper
Dujon scored 367 runs with 4 half-centuries, missing century on one occasion by 2 runs. Kirmani scored 235 runs with a half-century.

Allrounder
Kapil with 29 wickets and 184 runs was the best allrounder of the series.
