Playing the pool match in ICC Champions Trophy, sent to bat first, half-centuries by captain Ganguly (90) and Laxman (79), that resulted in 161 run 2nd-wicket partnership also too India to 290/4. Unbroken partnership of 77 runs between Kaif (49) and Dravid (30) in just 7 overs lifted India to the highest total of this ground. Sehwag (17) and Yuvraj (9) failed to shine with bat.

Harbhajan’s 3/33 and Irfan Pathan’s 2/11 with tight bowling from Nehra, Agarkar (42/1) and part-time bowlers restricted Kenya to 192/7.

Sent to bat first in the 1st ODI of the NatWest Series, England scored the second highest total of the ground. Cook (102) and Bell (126*) gave 2nd wicket partnership of 178 runs. Pietersen (33*) and Prior (19) were the other two batsmen to bat. Zaheer and RP Singh grabbed a wicket each. Agarkar, Chawla and part-time bowlers were milked by the batsmen.

In reply, the strong batting line up crumbled and were bowled out for 184. Anderson grabbed 4/23, while Flintoff, Mascarenhas, Panesar shared a wicket each. There were three run outs. Broad was economical giving 27 runs in 8 overs. For India, captain Dravid (46) and Karthik (44) were the highest scorers. Zaheer Khan’s 20 was their third best score. Ganguly (2), Tendulkar (17), Gambhir (3), Yuvraj (0), Dhoni (19) and others failed to help India’s cause.
