The athletes of India have got a big shot in the arm as the Indian Government has revised the cash awards for the sports persons winning medals at different international events. Recognizing the efforts of disabled athletes, cash awards are announced for the first time even for Blind, Deaflympics and Special Olympics besides deciding equal award money for medallists at Para-Asian Games and Para athletes winning at Commonwealth Games.
The cash awards and incentives are increased now by 50 percent. Even the winners of All-England badminton Championship will be awarded.
Even for coaches there is revised consideration. Their eligibility to be considered for awards has been reduced to 180 days of coaching from the previous 240 days. The number of days include the training/coaching they provide to medal winners before an event.
