KKR innings
Winning the toss, the openers Bisla and Gambhir gave a steady start taking KKR to 59 in 7.4 overs when Bisla (24-ball 28 runs) fell to newcomer Anand Sharma. Joined by Kallis, Gambhir completed his 18th half-century of IPL to create an IPL record of half-centuries. Ashish Reddy had another famous scalp after getting Ross Taylor and Virat Kohli when he bowled Gambhir (45-ball 53 runs with 6 boundaries and a six). The score read 102/2 after 13.4 overs.
KKRs best man of the season with bat Morgan joined Kallis. Within 5 overs they added 67 runs for 3rd wicket as Morgan contributed 21-ball 47 runs with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Steyn ran out Morgan. In remaining 8 balls Kallis (27-ball 41 runs with 6 boundaries) and Pathan (3 runs) added another 11 runs as KKR scored 180/4.
Sunrisers Chase
The writing was written clear on the wall as Sunrisers are generally a 130-run type team. Parthiv Patel (31-ball 27 runs with 2 boundaries and a six) and Cameron White 31-Ball 34 runs WITH 3 boundaries and a six) added 57 runs for the opening wicket but they took 9 overs. Kallis was the most successful bowler as first he sent Patel and then White in successive overs. Sangakkara (2 runs) was again listless. Perera again succeeded with 25-ball 36 runs (2 boundaries and a six), but Kallis bowled him finishing on 3/13.
Ravi Teja (10), Ashish Reddy (4), Karan Sharma (5*), VIhari (1) and Amit Mishra (1*) completed the formality of playing 20 overs as Sunrisers finished the inning on 132/7. Rajat Bhatia (2/33), Narine (31/1) and Senanayake (18/1) were other successful bowlers. Balaji (30/0) went wicketless.
MOM Gambhir
Gambhir was the surprise player of the match winner. He himself accepted Morgan was the key game changer. But may be the MOM selection committee noticed that MOrgan fell 3 short of half-century while Gambhir reached an IPL record. Fans fail to understand why Kallis was not MOM though!! 3/13 and 27-ball unbeaten 41 run was not better than 53 runs by Captain Gambhir!!
