IPL 2014 Match 12 Preview: Sunrisers To Open Account Against Daredevils

Sunrisers could not have got a better match than playing against Delhi Daredevils to register first win of the IPL 2014. In the last edition they won both the matches with their bowlers keeping Delhi to one of the lowest score of IPL. In the current IPL, Delhi Daredevils are considered to be one of the weakest team, but they can feel confident with their win against KKR while SRH is yet to register a win. But, despite their one win DD start as underdogs. Finally, Sunrisers should be able to get the taste of victory in UAE, and rise above the bottom of the Points Tally.

Head-to-Head: SRH 2-0 DD

SH won by 3 wkts, MOM: Amit Mishra
SH won by 6 wkts, MOM: Sammy

Team Comparison
Duminy has been the key player of Delhi Daredevils scoring two half-centuries and being the winning factor in their only win. His early wicket resulted in heavy loss against CSK. Captain Karthik is also showing sign of forms already hitting a half-century. Replacement of Ross Taylor by Quinton de Kock might change their fortune the way Chris Lynn changed KKRs fortune. In bowling Unadkat appears to be the best, as even Shami is not consistent and their best bowler so far Coulter-Nile is doubtful. If Pietersen plays, DD has reason to cheer. Otherwise, their bowling has been very ordinary. They need to rethink about team strategy.

SRH, on the other hand, is playing their best XI but the batsmen are again failing, and bowlers are not finding the same control as they had in the last edition, still they are not performing too bad. A bit of help with the trio of Dhawan, Finch and Warner will get them back to winning ways. Warner knows Delhi very well and that may help him get back to form. But, the biggest problem of Sunrisers is Dhawan, as the captain. The sooner he is replaced, the better is the chances of Sunrisers. Sammy is a good option. But, even with captaincy issue they have a better team balance than Delhi Daredevils. Their bowling attack of Steyn, B Kumar, Amit Mishra and Karn Sharma is still one of the best in the IPL.

Verdict
With SRH playing, any match gets low scoring. DD also has not done much to give hope of high score. In a low or moderate scoring match, a close finish should see SRH register first win of the IPL 7, edition, unless a strange performance like Chris Lynn happens.
