IPL 2015 Playoff: 3 Teams Confirmed as Mumbai, Sunrisers and KKR Eye 4th Spot

The last four matches of group stages of IPL 8th edition played the crucial role of unofficial quarterfinal to decide all the four semifinalists. Today, in the two matches played, Chennai Super Kings won comfortably to set its foot on top of the Points Table, while Rajasthan Royals edged out Kolkata Knight Riders in an entertaining high-scoring match. While CSK and RR have won their last matches, Royal Challengers Bangalore at 15 points can relax as their NRR ensures they will finish in top four. Their last match will only help decide if they finish 2nd or 4th. Unless rain arrives to send KKR into top 4, Sunrisers and Mumbai will decide the 4th team now.

Indian Premier League 2015: Schedule and Results

Finalists
Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals have confirmed their entry to the Playoffs with clear wins in their last matches. While Kings XI Punjab was already knocked out, Kolkata Knight Riders was vying for a place. Still, they can blame themselves only for leaving too much for the last phase. As a result of KKRs loss today, Royal Challengers Bangalore has got a confirmed place in the Playoffs too.

Interesting Case of RCB
RCB did themselves more than a favor by winning the last match at Hyderabad. With 15 points and the best Net Run Rate among all teams they are currently placed at 3rd position behind CSK and RR. Even if they lose by a big margin against Delhi Daredevils, their NRR will not go below KKR, who also have 15 points. Hence their place is guaranteed now in the Playoff. Their last match will only decide the position. A win would get them into Qualifier. Otherwise they may finish 4th.

Sunrisers vs Mumbai Indians vs Rain (KKR)
Sunrisers vs Mumbai Indians will seal the 4th spot of the Play offs. If the match is washed out, both teams will reach 15 points, similar to KKR. But, due to lesser NRR than KKR, both will remain below Knight Riders. As a result, KKR will qualify with Sunrisers, who have better NRR than Mumbai Indians.

If the match finishes, KKR will be knocked out along with the loser.
