2011 Performances
Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Daredevils by 8 wickets, after bundling them below 100. Against Royal Challengers Banglore Mumbai Indians bowler laid the ground for a low chase, and batsmen ensured another emphatic victory by 9 wickets. But, in the home match against fresher Kochi Tuskers, despite scoring high total batting first for the first time, the bowlers failed to defend. But, they bounced back and thumped Pune Warriors India. Against champions CSK, MI humbled them easily with Harbhajan’s spins that recorded one of the IPL’s best bowling performances. In the last match, they thumped Deccan Chargers in away match to celebrate Sachin’s birthday. But Rajasthan Royals humiliated them at Jaipur restricting them to one of the lowest IPL total. Then Indians thumped Kings XI at home. Last match saw them winning easily against Pune Warriors. They knocked out Delhi Daredevils and assured a place in Knock-out phase. But the strongest team went in danger of not qualifying for the knockout after being Kings XI trounced them in Away match and DC avenged defeat in Mumbai. In their last group match they snatched a thrilling last-over victory against KKR. They repeated the result against KKR in eliminator play off and knocked out KKR.
RCB seized the losing streak of 3 consecutive losses, after winnning the first game against Kochi Tuskers. In the second match they were thumped by Mumbai Indians. Then failed to chase high target against Deccan Chargers, and lost without fight against Chennai Super Kings. After the washed-out match against Rajasthan Royals, Gayle-force thwarted the strong Knight Riders. The top-order ensured another smooth victory against Pune Warriors. Gayle’s record century and all-round performance ensured another thumping win against Kings XI in the last match. Gayle’s record blast helped another easy victory against Kochi Tuskers. They thumped Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur and after defeating KKR RCB created a record 7-match winning streak. But after that Kings XI registered IPLs 2nd biggest victory against them. Yet they recovered in time to defeat CSK in their last match and finished as group topper. They lost the playoff match against CSK.
Player’s Performance
Mumbai Indians top order batsmen shows three batsmen player’s performance index scoring high and have scored more than 300 runs. But the other two in 100-club has failed to cross even 150. The bowlers have been exceptional taking 81 wickets in 14 matches, providing the best bowling performances of tournament so far.
RCB Player’s performance index indicate 63 wickets for bowlers in 13 matches, one group match was washed out. Gayle’s conssitent run saw him wearing the Orange Cap after his 7th match, and retaining again in the last match. Kohli follows him joining 400-club, while AB de Villiers and Saurabh Tiwary have 100-plus total.

In 2010, Mumbai Indians led by Sachin from front rocked IPL and entered the final. MI won 11 matches and lost just 5. RCB also reached semifinal and finished 3rd, after MI knocked them out in semifinals. RCB won 8 matches and lost 8.

With 33 wins and 25 losses MI has been a better team till current editions. RCB has equal number of losses and wins, winning 30 and Losing 30. Both have lost the final once, although RCB has reached semifinal one more time than MI.
