Match 5 Preview: Delhi Bowlers Vs RCB Smashers

Delhi has entered knockout stages twice, whereas RCB has entered the knockout thrice and final twice. While 2008 was RCBs forgettable edition, DD had a comparatively worrying performance in 2010. Last victory has reduced RCBs deficit margin against DD to 2-5. Led by Vettori, RCB has shown discipline, while under Sehwag everyone in the team appears without tension. Contest would be interesting, and DDs bowlers contest with RCBs batsmen should give the result.

IPL Performances
DD has reached semifinal in 2008 and 2009, but failed to complete a hattrick of semifinals in 2010. In 2008 and 2010 they won 7 and lost 7 matches, but in 2008 they have one abandaoned match also. In 2009 they won 9 and lost only 7. In 2011, they finished at the bottom with 4 wins and 9 losses.

RCB reached the semifinal 2010 and final in 2009 and 2011. 2008 was a forgettable experience with 7th place finish. While 2008 saw them winning 4 but losing 10, 2009 finalists won 9 and lost 7. In 2010 they won 8 and lost 8 to finish as 3rd. In 2011 they topped the group but lost the final, overall winning 10 and losing 6.

Overall Performance
With prolific 2011 season, RCB has equal number of losses and wins, at 31 each till 2011 end. One match was abandoned.

Till 2012 start, DD has won 28 and lost 30, with two matches producing no result.

Who Will Win Today!!
With Kohli and Gayle in form, RCB is the favorite to enter the final, but the bowlers of Delhi have given them the hope to win, with their disciplined performance against KKR in their first match of 2012. With Vettori and AB de Villiers RCB looks undefeatable.

But if Sehwag’s bat can tackle the pacers of RCB, and the support from other batsmen like Finch and Irfan gave against KKR happens, RCB weak bowling may concede more than desired.

Gayle, Kohli and AB look unreachable. Yet, if DD bowlers, specially van der Merwe and Morkel can bowl the way they did in first match, Gayle and Kohli may not spend more time on crease, and that provides the edge to DD to win their second match now.
