2011 Performances
Chennai Super Kings had a balanced and composed tournament so far with 2 victories and 1 loss. The teams looks formiddable, although batting is ruled by Indians till now, except one performance from Hussey. They have snatched victory from the mouth of defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in firtst match. Kings XI surprised them with the Valthaty hammer, whereas against Royal Chalengers, the comfortable victory brought calm and composed look back on team member’s face. They were the last victim of Tuskers wonderful campaign and lost comfortably in the rain-curtailed match. Later they also lost to the Group Champion Mumbai Indians, and comfortably won the first match against Pune Warriors, defending a low total. The back-to-back match against Pune Warriors saw CSK making a clinical chase of small total. Then, at home they registered easy victory over clueless Chargers. They won the home match convincingly against RR, but lost meekly the away match against KKR. In the away game against RR, they easily dented Jaipur forte too.

Delhi Daredevils had their own problem. First Mumbai Indians sent them to school by blowing them away with Malinga Special that led DD score their second below 100 score in IPL. When it appeared against Royals they will have some clue, Warne’s boys also scored clinical thumping victory. Being at bottom, when hopes were about to shatter completely, Daredevils registered emphatic victory over tournament topper Pune Warriors India. But against Deccan Chargers, they played an ordinary game and lost due to poor bowling. But against the rampant Kings XI, DD won the high-scoring match. But, when they were expected to surge ahead, they lost the see-saw battle against RCB. They lost another close battle against KKR when their batsmen succumbed in the low chase. They thumped Kochi Tuskers when they met few days before. But they came back strongly against DC and Sehwag’s century saw them winning the match. But, against MI the high chase resulted in shameful loss.

Player’s Performance
For Chennai, player’s performance index shows Husseyy leading with 388 runs and is set to grab Orange Cap, ahead of Gayle. Raina has also entered 300-club. Badrinath is just 6 runs away from joining 300-club at 3rd position with Murali Vijay in 200-club, while Dhoni needs a single to enter 200-club. Bollinger and Morkel are performing their best. Bowlers have managed to take 58 wickets in 11 matches.

For Delhi, player’s performance index is weak in the absence of Sehwag. Venugopal needs 10-run to join 300-club and with Warner is in the 200-club, while Hopes and Nagar have entered 100-run club. Naman Ojha needs 1 run to show he can reach 100-run mark even if it takes 12 innings for htat. Their bowlers have not been so consistent, taking 51 wickets in 11 matches.

2008 Performance
In 2008, CSK registered 9 Wins and 7 Losses, three of which came against the Rajasthan Royals, including the defeat in final.
DD reached the semifinal. They Won 7, Lost 7 and one match was abandoned.
2009 Performance
In 2009, CSK was knocked out by RCB in the semifinal. Overall they recorded 8 Wins, 6 Losses and 1 No Result. DD again reached the semifinal with a better record of 9 wins and 7 losses.
2010 Performance
In 2010 CSK finally won the championship with 9 wins and 7 losses overall. Despite having 7 wins and 7 losses, DD could not reach 3rd consecutive semifinal.

Overall Performance
CSK, having played the maximum matches in last three IPL, have 26 wins, 20 losses and 1 No Result – the best record by any team.
DD, having reached semifinal in first two editions hold an impressive overall performance of having Won 23, Lost 21, NR 1.

Who Will Win Today!!
It can be better phrased as will CSK win big or will DD may save something to be proud of even in loss. With Sehwag out of the tournament, on current form there is no spine in DD. CSK, one of the biggest sharks in IPL, is set to maul them for reaching Chennai without much ammunition.

Key Battles
Hussey/Vijay/Raina vs Morkel
Morkel is the only hope in DDs bowling line up. But can he create the miracle of dealing with the trio of Hussey, Vijay and Raina. IF he can, DD can at least smile for sometime. Otherwise, CSK may prefer to bat and get some high-scoring batting practice that they need for the knockouts.

Hopes/Warner/Venu vs CSK bowlers
The trio of DD is not that effective as Sehwag alone has been. Yet, if DD has to shine even for 10-overs in the game, the trio must fire. Although, the tough challenge would be to battle the successful 5-bowler unit of CSK. While Morkel and Bollinger are beating opponents with pace, the spin trio of Ashwin, Randiv and Jakati have just made the scorecard almost immobile even for a good batting line-up.
