RIO 2016: 3 Golfers Represent India, Woman Shows Hope, Men at Bottom

Golf was played at the 1900 and 1904 Olympics. After 112 years, Golf has again got entry as Sports at Olympics. Two men and one women team represents India at Rio Olympics. 18-year old Aditi Ashok, is the youngest and first Indian to win the Lalla Aicha Tour School and also the youngest winner of a Q School for an international tour, will participate with Anirban Lahiri, India’s highest ranked golfer on PGA tour, and Shiv Chawrasia, who has won 3 European Tour, 4 Asian tour and 10 other tournaments. 60 men and 60 women from 41 nations will participate in 2016 Olympics Golf for Men’s and Women’s Individual events. Apart from Aditi sharing the top 3 spot for some time, all three results did not yield much.

History
In Two Olympics of 1900 and 1904 5 nations have participated. In 1900, USA won both the Men’s and Women’s Individual Gold, while in 1904, USA won the team event as Canadian George Lyon won the Men’s Individual title.
In 1900, 22 Golfers from France, Great Britain, Greece and United States Participated.
In 1904, 77 golfers from Canada and USA participated.
