Singapore Open 2017: After a Day of Long Battles, 4 QF spots for Indians

After a promising Day 1 contingent reduced to just 5 in Round 2, Indians played 5 matches in the 2nd Round today and all went to the decider sets lasting almost an hour or more. Ashwini Ponnappa won with Sumeeth Reddy but with Sikki Reddy lost against the top seed Japanese pair after a tough 3-set tie. Sindhu, Srikanth and Sai Praneeth were also stretched to three sets but all managed to enter quaerterfinals. In QF tomorrow, Sindhu meets Marin for 10th time to level career meets record, Praneeth meets 8th seed from Thailand, having lost both career matches while Srikanth is up against 5th seed Chinese for the first time. Mixed Doubles team meets 3rd seed Chinese pair. All are up against the wall!! Who will breach the tough wall to reach semifinals of Singapore Open 2017!! Remember, Saina Nehwal is the only Indian to have won a title at Singapore.
