Hyderabad, India: After consistent good performances, Somdev Devvarman has achieved the rare feat of becoming the 3rd Indian to be ranked below 100. He is ranked 96 in the first week ATP ranking of August 2010.
Leander Paes achieved the Singles ranking below 100 in 1999. Sania Mirza has already done it and slumped. Now, Somdev Devvarman will carry the high expectations of entire India behind him.
Whether his fate will resemble the fate of Sania or Paes will be seen in an year from now on. At present, US Open is awaiting him to prove his worth. He is 25 year old. Not too young by the age standards of Tennis. Yet, when he can get into top 100, he would be surely working on to rise further.
