Sultan of Johor Cup 2017: Triangular Race to Finals Before Last Group Match

In the fourth match of pool stage today, Indians lost by a goal against defending champions Australia. They lost 3-4. Due to their big win, Indians are still ahead of Australia in Points Tally on goal difference with one game left in the race to finals. But, on 28th while India plays Great Britain, who already defeated Aussies, the Australians play the host Malaysia. The triangular race to final is open. In the last matches, only two of these three can win and the winners will ensure a meeting in finals. While Great Britain can enter finals even with a draw, Australia and India are in must win situation in their last league matches. Dilpreet became the top scorer of of tournament today with 9 goals.

For India, Sanjay equalised first goal with a penalty corner and then Dilpreet Singh took them to lead of 2-1. But, in the third quarter Aussies scored two more. Diplreet scored again to get India 3-3 equaliser in 47th minute but after two minutes Aussies took the lead and won the match.

USA again sufferred a heavy defeat, their third biggest after 22-0 by India and 19-0 by Australia. Hosts, Malaysia won 18-0. For Malaysia, Captain Rosemi Aiman scored 5 goals, Anuar Mohama scored 4 goals, while Omar Firdaus and Kamal Muhammad scored hattricks.

Great Britain jumped to the top of the table with their 4th consecutive win. They defeated Japan 3-1 and are the only undefeated team of the tournament.
