Hussey Fails, Murali Plays Cameo
Hussey wanted to start from where he left against RCB. But, RP Singh sent him back to pavillion in 3rd over, when Hussey was on 8 runs scored through two boundaries in the first over of RP Singh. Murali Vijay on the other end played the best way he knows to bat in IPL, attack and attack. 28 runs came in just 18 balls with 6 boundaries before Perera gave him a send-off.
Raina Fights the Tuskers, after Rain
Raina in the company of started to fight the Tuskers, who were rampant with ball after the game restarted. Rain interrupted the game in the 10th over. CSK had to play 8 more overs. Raina played a responsible inning as he scored half-century on 40 balls with 5 fours and one six. Badrinath could score only 19 runs in 17 balls. The last over of Jadeja saw two sixes being hit by Dhoni and Morkel and the score reaching 131/4.
The target for Kochi Tuskers was revised to 135 runs in 17 overs according to D/L method.
Kochi Batsmen Rock CSK
From the first ball Tuskers were on rampage. CSK has opted for the three international pacers – Morkel, Southee and Bollinger. Ashwin and Jakati were specialized spinners. But probably rain has made the Tuskers unbeatable. Brendum McCullum troubled the most scoring 33-ball 47 runs with 3 sixes and 4 boundaries. Mahela also made a quick 11-ball 16 runs hitting a six and 2 boundaries.
Parthiv Patel showed CSK how they could not use him for three years. He scored 34 runs on just 26 balls with a six and 4 boundaries. The top order departed as Ashwin took 2 and Bollinger for the third wicket. But the best pair of Kochi was on crease – Jadeja and Hodge. They made the chase look easier striking hard from both end. The double assault helped the Tuskers finish the rampage with 2 overs left. In 15 overs they scored 135 runs.
Brendum McCullum – Player of the Match
His devastative start did not let the Super Kings bowler breathe. Bollinger, Morkel, Southee, Ashwin and Jakati – all were given rampant treatment. Before he was out 3 runs short of a deserving half-century, he had made sure the task for other batsmen was not a difficult one to complete. He has now received second MOM award of IPL 2011.
