With the semis list ready today, Mixed Doubles saw both the top two seeds knocked out. 2nd seed Akane was the other top two seeds to be knocked out as in Women’s Singles Group B PV Sindhu, with prayers working, sealed the 2nd spot avenging Olympic title defeat against Carolina Marin, who bid goodbye to the year as one of the seven to have lost all three group matches at Dubai World Super Series 2016. 6 matches went to final set, 4 went above 1 hour, as exit of three-time BWF World Super Series Finals champion Lee Chong Wei saw the longest match of 1 hour and 12 minutes.
