SL Triangular Series: SL out, Ind Vs NZ Final!!

Dambulla, Sri Lanka: The abandoned match against New Zealand has left Sri Lanka in an awakward situation in the Micromax Sri Lanka Triangular Series. The organisers planned for a long 6-day break before the final for the hosts, Sri Lanka. But, if SL fail to register a win in their last group match against India, they will get a long rest till next series.

The second group match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand was abandoned due to incessant rains, despite using the reserve day for the game. Both teams received 2 points each. With New Zealand and India already getting 5 points after first round of 2 matches each and SL getting only 4 points, SL needed a win in this match. But, they could manage just 2 points.

New Zealand are already ahead of SL with their last group match scheduled against India after a 6-day break. If SL loses the group match against India, to be played before Ind-NZ match, the last match will be a dress-rehearsal for final and SL will be knocked out of the tournament.
