1. 11 wickets – Randiv, the debutant, bowled in 3 innings of 2 tests to take 9 wickets in 3rd test match and 2 wickets in his first test, the second test of the series. 5/82 is his best performance. He bowled 127.1 overs to return Strike rate of 69.3 and average of 34.90. Most importantly, he took Sehwag’s wicket in all his three innings.
2. 10 wickets – Malinga, returning after a long gap, floored India in first test match, taking 7 wickets. In 4 innings of 2 tests he bowled 72 overs to give the best of 5/50 with a strike rate of 43.2 and average of 27.30.
3. 8 wickets – Muralitharan, the magician retired in first test of the series, took required 8 wickets for his 800 wickets. In 2 innings of the first test his best was 5/63 and match aggregate 8/191 with an average of 23.87 and strike rate of 43.2 bowling 61.4 overs.
4. 8 wickets – Pragyan Ojha, the leading Indian wicket-taker, bowled the maximum overs of the series, 164 overs to return the best of 4/115 in an inning with an average of 64.37 and strike rate of 123.0.
5. 7 wickets – Sehwag, breaking into bowlers arena, bowled 59 overs in 3 tests to return an average of 37.57 and strike rate of 50.5, the best among Indian bowlers. His best was 3/51.
6. 7 wickets – Ishant Sharma, overall a flop in the series, toiled for 99 overs to take 3/72 as his best in 6 innings at an average of 61.71 and strike rate of 84.8.
7. 6 wickets – Abhimanyu Mithun, the debutant who was also successful with willow, bowled 92 overs to give his best on debut of 4/105 returning an average of 62.00 with a strike rate of 92.0.
8. 6 wickets – Mendis bowled 107 overs to get the best of 4/172 with an average of 57.66 and strike rate of 107 in 3 innings of 2 tests.
9. 4 wickets – Amit Mishra, played one test, and returned his best as 3/47, at an average of 46.75 and strike rate of 89.0 in 59.2 overs.
10. 3 wickets – Dilshan grabbed 3/56 in 43 overs with an average of 39.66 and strike rate of 86.0.
Other Bowler With More than 1 wicket in Series
2 Wickets – Harbhajan Singh, having one of the most forgettable series, bowled 87.5 overs in first two tests taking 2 wickets in 2nd test with best of 1/35 at an average of 152 and strike rate of 263.5.
