PSS Colombo, Sri Lanka: The 4th day of 3rd test saw the match control tumbling between both the teams. While the last 3 wickets of Sri Lanka gave them challenging total to defend, the first 3 wickets of India have almost sealed the fate of series.
Last 3 Wickets of SL Added 180 runs
The last 3 wickets of SL added 180 runs, when SL had lost first 7 wickets for just 87 runs. In the first session of the day, Pragyan Ojha and Amit Mishra has caught SL in the web of spin. SL were 87/7 with a lead of 76 runs. India started dreaming victory. But, the last 3 wickets turned the game against India on the turning pitch. Samaraweera and Mendis put India on the backfoot. Samaraweera added 38 runs with Malinga for 8th wicket and then 118 record partnership with Mendis. When Samaraweera departed, Mendis attacked the Indians fiercely and added another 24 runs for the last wicket.
First 3 Wickets of India Fell Under 50
The first 3 Indian wickets fell before they could reach 49 runs, chasing a modest target of 257 runs to equalise the series. Randiv created havoc by claiming his favorite victim Sehwag, and adding more spice with the wickets of Dravid and Murali Vijay. With three top-order batsmen back to pavillion, remaining 204 runs will be a mammoth task to accomplish on the fast turning last day pitch.
3 Wickets for 4 bowlers
Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra and Sehwag took 3 wickets each for India in the SL 2nd inning trying to place SL in embarrasing position. But, Randiv’s 3 wicket haul in Indian chase has brought victory on the doorstep of Sri Lanka. Randiv and Sehwag are the leading wicket takers for their teams now in the series.
