Davis Cup 2010 India Vs Brazil: Bopanna Loses opener to Belucci

Chennai, India: Playing Brazil for the World Group Play-offs, Indian team is looking to retain position in the World Elite Group for Davis Cup. Rohan Bopanna playing the first singles of the tie lost to 26th ranked T. Bellucci of Brazil in 5 sets.

Rubber 2: Devvarman Loses to Mello

The marathon match saw 5 gruelling sets. Bopanna won 1st and 4th set. In the end Bellucci won 6-7(2), 7-6(7), 7-5, 4-6, 10-8.

India is meeting Brazil for the 3rd time in Davis Cup matches. Both have won once each. They last played in 1991 World Group quarterfinals, when Brazil won at home 4-1.

India is trying to earn promotion for the first time since 1998. Brazil has lost in the World Group play-offs for four consecutive years. This is their 5th consecutive attempt to earn the promotion.
