Dravid’s half-century created some record and again it came in one of the most demanding situations. The WI bowlers were firing from both ends. The outfield was dead slow. Singles were not readily available. Still he cruised to his 55 runs standing like a wall, with his trademark patience and gritt, becoming the highest run scorer of the series in the process.

His 11th half-century is a record by any Indian against WI. It is also the second highest in Ind-WI series, behind 12 50s by Lloyd. Overall his 60th century is a new record for Indian batsman, eclipsing Tendulkar’s 59 half-centuries. He is also now just 3 short of the World record of 63 half-centuries by Allan Border.
Laxman’s 9th Half-century against WI matched the unique record of two half-centuries in same innings by any Indian against West Indies. His record partnership of unbeaten 75 runs at Barbados has broken the earlier record of 53 runs between Gavaskar and Jaisimha scored during victorious 1970-71 Indian tour.
His half-centuries in both innings at Barbados has made him stand shoulder to shoulder against Mohinder Amarnath. His third-time both innings half-century has made him stand equal to Umrigar, Gavaskar and Amarnath in Indian history.
