Ind vs WI 1974/75 Test Series: Roberts win WI the Closest Series

1974/75 Series was the most closely fought series with WI winning the last test match to win the series 3-2. Although West Indies were very strong team considering the allround world class performers in the team, but Indians can not help thinking, if the internal politics has not led Pataudi being made the captain and Gavaskar had not skipped the three test matches, the 2-3 result could have been different and India would have easily won the series.

Batsmen
Lloyd with 636 runs emerged as the best batsman of the series, with 2 centuries and a half century. Kallicharan scored 454 runs, while Fredericks, Greenidge and Richards scored 300-plus runs.
Viswanath with 566 runs in 10 innings that included a century and two score of 90s emerged as the sole fighter from Indian team. Gaekwad and Engineer scored 222 runs each. Gavaskar failed with 108 runs in 4 innings.

Bowler
Andy Roberts took 32 wickets to create new bowling record of the bilateral series. Gibbs (21) and Holder (17) were other best two wicket-takers. WI bowlers took 92 Indian wickets.
Chandrasekhar with 16 wickets was again the best Indian bowler. Among the 67 wickets taken by Indian bowler the quadrat of Chandra, Bedi, Prasanna and Venkatraghavan took 53 wickets.

Captain
Lloyd scored 636 runs with a double century. Mansur Ali Khan could score only 90 runs in 6 innings.

Wicketkeeper
Murray scored 123 runs in 6 innings, with a half-century and 3 ducks. Engineer scored 222 runs in 9 innings, with one half-century.
