Ind vs WI 1987-88 Test Series: Finally a Draw

The West Indies team was no more feared as before. The series between the equals saw 4 tests series end as 1-1 draw. Retirement of Gavaskar and less effective bowling of Kapil made India look weaker.

Batsmen
Retirement of Gavaskar made India so weak that even against weaker West Indies bowling all the batsmen succumbed. Captian Vengasarkar with 305 in 5 innings was the best batsman. Arun Lal (227), Kapil (223) and Srikkanth (204) were other prominent scorers.
Richards scored 295 runs with a century, emerging as the best WI batsman. Greenidge (260), Logie (250), Richardson (226) and Haynes (205) were other prominent scorers.

Bowlers
Walsh with 26 wickets emerged as the best bowler of series. WI bowlers grabbed 66 wickets.
Hirwani with 16 wickets was the pick of Indian bowlers who grabbed 50 wickets in the series.

Captains
Vengasarkar scored 305 runs, Shastri who captained in one test failed miserably. Richards scored 295 runs with a century.

Wicketkeepers
Kiran More scored 144 runs. Dujon failed miserably with only 97 runs 6 innings.

Allrounder
Kapil Dev managed more runs (223) and less wickets (7), yet he was the only player to have given allround performance.
