Ind vs WI 1988-89 Test Series: WI Sends Indians to School

In the series dominated by bowlers, Richardson was the key difference between the two teams in the 4-test series resulting into 3-0 victory for WI. Only once teams could cross 400-mark. Except Richardson none of the batsmen crossed 300-runs from both teams.

Batsmen
Richardson with 619 runs in 7 innings was a run-away leading batsman of the series. He hit 2 centuries and missed 3 scoring 93 and 99, and hit another half-century. Haynes (280), Greenidge (243), Logie (214) were also among runs.
A demoralising series for India saw opener Sidhu with just 205 runs in 7 innings emerge as leading run scorer. Only Sanjay Manjrekar (200) could touch 200. Ironically both the batsmen had one inning with century. Indian collapsed miserably.

Bowlers
59 wickets by WI bowlers saw Marshall with 19 wickets emerging as leading bowler ahead of Walsh (18) and Indian counterpart Kapil Dev (18 wickets)
58 wickets by Indian bowlers saw Kapil Dev with 18 wickets emerging as the best bowler.

Captains
WI captain Richards could score only 135 runs with the help of a century in 5 innings. Vengasarkar struggled and could score only 110 runs in 6 innings.

Wicketkeepers
More scored 103 runs in 6 innings. Dujon failed miserably again with just 83 runs in 5 innings.
