Ind vs WI 3rd Test Review: Draw earns India 3rd Series in a row

The third test of India-West Indies bilateral series was hosted by 106th venue of test cricket, Roseau, Dominica. The first two days were ruled by rains but leather kept on ruling the wood. In the next two days batsmen of both teams showed their resolve and finally India was set a competitive target of 180 runs in 47 overs of last day. Finally at 94/3 Indians agreed for a draw with 15 overs remaining.

Ishant and Edwards Shine Again
The pacers Ishant Sharma of India and Fidel Edwards of West Indies continued their best-ever Test Journey. Both ultimately became the top 2 wicket-taking bowlers of the series. Both took 5-wicket hauls in first innings. Harbhajan also grabbed 4 wickets in 2nd innings.

Batsmen finally Join the party
2 centuries and 6 half-centuries in the match showed that batsmen were finally able to face the bowlers better. West Indies batsmen hit 2 centuries, match saving one, and 2 half-centuries, while Indians scored 4 half-centuries in the first innings. Unbeaten Dravid and Laxman, with centurion Chanderpaul were the top 3 run scorers of the series.

Big Partnerships, amidst COllapses
Three big partnerships shaped the test match and changed the course of match every day. Laxman and Mukund were involved in a partnership that fell short of a century by just 2 runs. Then Raina was involved in another century-partnership (after 1st test), now with Dhoni, that turned the momentum in India’s favor. When India was almost certain to win the match, the debutant Kirk Edwards and oldest West Indies player (record 133rd Test) joined hands to challenge India by creating the biggest partnership of the series.

Individual Milestones

    6th Century -Chanderpaul who became the highest capped player for West Indies scored his 6th Test Century against India becoming the joint 6th highest centurion. He is also the 5th Highest run scorer of all-time in Ind-WI bilateral Test Series.
    22-Ishant Sharma became the Indian pacer with highest wickets in a series in West Indies.
    Debut Century-Kirk Edwards (WI) scored century on debut.
    400 Test Wickets-Harbhajan Singh became the 11th highest wicket-taking bowler in the Test Cricket history.
    56 wickets in 11 matches have made Harbhajan Singh the 13th highest wicket-taker in Ind-WI series.
    200 catches- Dravid completed the feat of 200 Test Catches.
    Dhoni became the highest run scoring Indian wicketkeeper with 3000 runs.
