Bowlers
English bowlers grabbed 55 Indian wickets, with Botham being the best bowler of the series grabbing 20 wickets. Hendricks (12), Willis (10), Edmonds (6), Willey, Miller and J Lever (2 each) and Gooch (1) tasted success with ball.
Indian bowlers could grab only 39 English wickets. Young Kapil Dev emerged as the best Indian bowler with 16 wickets. Ghavri (8), Bedi (7), Venkataraghavan (6) and Mohinder Amarnath (2) were other successful bowlers.
Batsmen
With a double century, Gavaskar emerged as the best batsmen scoring 542 runs. Viswanath scored 340 runs with a century. Vengasarkar (249), scored with a century was the only Indian batsman to score 200-plus runs. Chetan Chauhan scored 179 runs.
Boycott (379) with two centuries and David Gower with a double century was the most successful English batsman scoring 282 runs. Botham (244) with a century was other succesful batsmen. Gooch scored 176 and Miller scored 152.
Captains
Brearley could score only 96 runs in 5 innings, while Venkataraghavan could not do much with ball.
Wicketkeepers
B Reddy and R Taylor failed to touch even 100-run mark.
Allrounder
Ian Botham was the best bowler of the series and 6th best batsmen of the series too.
