1981-82 Series saw India winning the 6-tests series by 1-0. The long series saw good contest between both teams. Batsmen from both teams made merry. But India had edge in bowling with Kapil and Doshi doing the maximum damage. Srikkanth had an unimpressive debut series, while in the contest for best allround performance with Botham, Kapil took India home.

Bowlers
Indian bowlers grabbed 71 English wickets in 10 English innings. Kapil Dev and Doshi were the joint best bowler of the series with 22 wickets each. Madan Lal (14), Shastri (12) and Kirti Azad (1) were other successful Indian bowlers.
English bowlers managed only 62 wickets. Botham with 17 wickets was the pick of there team. Unlike previous series, Underwood magic did not work. Willis (12), Underwood (9), Lever and Dilley (7 each), Embury (6), Gooch (2), Fletcher and Gower (1 each) were other successful bowlers of England.
Batsmen
Gavaskar emerged as the best bastman of the series scoring 500 runs with a century and 3 50s. Viswanath (466) was the only batsman to score a double century in the series. He also scored another century. Kapil Dev (318), Vengasarkar (291), and Yashpal Sharma (220) were other successful batsmen. Kapil and Yashpal also scored a century each. Shastri scored 135 with a half-century, while Srikkanth had a disappointing debut managing only 119 runs in 6 innings with a half-century.
Despite good performance by Indian bowlers, English batsmen scored heavily. Gooch (487) was their best batsmen scoring a century and 4 half-centuries. Botham (433) was another consistent performer scoring a century and 4 half-centuries. David Gower (375), Tavare (349), with a century, Boycott (318), and Fletcher (252) were also successful.
Captains
Gavaskar emerged as the best batsman of the series, while Fletcher could manage only 252 runs.
Wicketkeepers
R Taylor for England and Kirmani for India failed to aggregate even 100 run. Kirmani scored 98 runs with a half-century. Taylor aggregated 51.
Allrounder
Kapil Dev and Ian Botham were the best allrounders of the series. Kapil grabbed 22 wickets, Botham got 17. Botham scored 433 runs, while Kapils scored 318 runs. Both scored a century each. Botham scored 4 50s, while Kapil had just one half-century. Kapil had two 5-wicket haul, while Botham had one.
