Indian Cricket Stadium: Hyderabad Uppal Stadium

Hyderabad Uppal Stadium is the second International stadium of Hyderabad. Inaugurated as replacement of Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad, the stadium has hosted only one Test match besides 4 ODIs, and being the host ground of Deccan Chargers.

New Zealand and India played the only test here in 2010 series that ended in a draw. Interestingly even the second test on this ground finds India playing against the same opponent.

Summary of the First Test
Result: Draw
This was the second test of the 2010 series. New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat. With a century from opener McIntosh and his 2nd wicket 147-run partnership with Guptill (85) and then half-century (70) from Ryder Kiwis scored 350 runs.

Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh grabbed 4 wickets each, while Sreesanth and Pragyan Ojha got a wicket each. Opener Brendum McCullum (4), Ross Taylor (24), Keeper Hopkins (4) and Williamson (4) failed.

Starting with a foundation of 160-run opening wicket partnership between Gambhir (54) and Sehwag (96), Laxman’s half-century (70) and the century by Harbhajan (111* on 116 balls with 7 fours and 7 sixes), India scored 472 runs. With Sreesanth (24) Harbhajan added 105 runs for the last wicket.

Captain Vettori grabbed 5 wickets, Southee managed 3 and Chris Martin 1 wicket. Ojha was run out. Indian captain Dhoni scored 14 runs, while Dravid (45), Tendulkar (13), and Raina (20) also could not contribute much.

Second Innings
New Zealand fighting to save the match the Kiwis declared at 448/8. Brendum McCullum scored 225 runs, had opening wicket partnership of 125 runs with McIntosh (49), and 5th wicket 124 run partnership with Williamson (69). Guptill (18), Ross Taylor (7) and Ryder (20) could not stay longer.

Zaheer bowled only 7.3 overs and went wicketless. Sreesanth grabbed 3, Pragyan and Raina grabbed 2 wickets each, while Harbhajan managed one wicket.

Chasing a target of 327 runs, Indian openers Sehwag (54) and Gambhir (14) scored unbeaten 68 runs in 17 overs when match was declared drawn.
