London Oympics Day 8: India Gets Silver

India got 2nd medal of 2012 when Vikas won Silver in Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol. India’s Olympic medal tally rose to 22 overall. Otherwise the results were not in favor of India, except Poonia becoming the first Indian woman to reach Discus Throw final.!!

Men’s Shotput Qualification and Final
Qualification Om Prakash Singh failes to Qualify for final. He threw 19.86m.
Women’s Discus Throw Qualification
Krishna Poonia (Group A) with 63.54 qualify for finals.
Seema Antil (Group B) with 61.91 failed to qualify finishing 13th. (Top 12 qualified)
Women’s Triple Jump Qualification
Mayookha Johny failed to qualify with 13.77m effort.

Men’s Welter (69kg) Round of 16
Vikas Krishan lost to Errol Spence (USA) 15-13. His victory was overturned by AIBA later.

Vijay Kumar won Silver. He had an Olympic Record score during Stage 2 Qualification.

    Joydeep Karmakar finished 4th in Final
    Gagan Narang finished 18th and failed to qualify.
